On August 20th 2011, professional basketball player for the New Jersey Nets Kris Humphries made entertainment history by marrying famous designer / superstar Kim Kardashian. Now, most people would ask why would this be any different compared to past celebrities who tied the knot? The answer they would get would be the amount of time in which these two celebrities lasted before having to part their separate ways.

These two lasted a whopping 72 days of marriage before parting, thus making top stories in all the entertainment news and gossip sources. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m sure this isn’t the first time two celebrities got hitched and called it over before even getting out of the door so to speak, but this one definitely made its mark on all the fans and gossip lovers due to all the hype the wedding was getting. Kardashian, who has been in front of the eyes of thousands since 2007 when her and her family aired their first reality TV series Keeping Up with the Kardashians on E! has quite the following of both the media and fans.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries - getting divorcedE! also was giving permission by Kim and Kris to cover their wedding and air it on national TV for all the fans and everyone who couldn’t attend the ceremony to see, which returned a number of 4 million viewers that tuned in from all over. For a cable network to produce that type of number is insane, and also proves why this wedding will be remembered for years to come. It only took Kim 72 hours before she realized she didn’t want to be married anymore. Fans all over who checked her website for updates on how everything was going after the marriage was finalized were in shock when Kim announced her divorce with Kris. Her update racked up over 3,000 comments of confused fans onto why or how this was possible, some were even convinced that the marriage was nothing more than a hoax, or publicity stunt.

“First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show” said Kim when asked about the rumors. Kim also said how she just didn’t feel it was going to work out and decided to listen to her intuition when asked why she and Kris divorced. Whether a publicity stunt or wedding gone wrong, it’s safe to say that both Kim Kardashian and Kris Humhpries will go down as one of the most talked about weddings of 2011.
