I hope this lady goes back (or better yet) comes here and reads her letter over again. She’s a fool. Wake up and smell the coffee lady; it’s a free country.

Alice is a smart woman! God will save us all. Non believers, your day of reckoning is coming and you shall be wiped from the face of the earth by the creator, for you are nothing more than flawed servant of god!

The famous philosopher/painter Fransisco Goya created a marvelous work back in 1799, entitled “The Sleep of Reason Breeds Monsters.”

How true…and how sad that so many of the people that populate this beautiful planet seem to be sound asleep (at least their faculty for reason and logic seem to be sleeping).

I find myself wishing earnestly for a plague, or a deluge, or a comet, or some other large-scale natural disaster. I believe the earth deserves a do-over. Perhaps the next sentient species will be more intelligent on an individual and collective scale.

It is this kind of thinking that has caused me to question my Christian faith. Oh, I still believe in God, or whatever name you choose for your deity, but too many Christians have gone fundamentalist and are heading down the same path as Al-Qaeda has in the Muslim religion. These so-called Christians don’t want to face that reality, but a fundamentalist Christian state would be no different than a fundamentalist Muslim state.

Um, Christianity may have more adherents than any other single religion, but it does not follow that most people are Christian. They are not. Christians make up about 1/3 of the people in the world. Which means that there are twice as many non-Christians as Christians in the world.

Of that two-thirds who are not christian, 16 percent, or about half as many people as those who call themselves Christian (33%) call themselves non-religious.

These numbers do not add up, for me anyway, as making Christianity the “dominant” religion.

Let’s think about this one for a second. If I recall correctly, religion and “god” have caused more deaths since mans creation of it, than anything else ever in the history of time! Atheists the problem? Don’t think so. It’s religious wack jobs like this bimbo that are destroying the advancement of science and technology in our country.

I love how she heavily implies Christians are discriminated against by us horrible Atheists(Even tho most of Americans are Christian), yet promotes discrimination against Atheists.
Normal Christians I, and most other Atheists, have absolutely no problem with. Like me Mom and me Sister. Both Christian, both regular church goers. Heck, me Mum’s hubby is Catholic, with a gay son. He was the photographer at their wedding.
2nd wedding for both of em BTW…even tho Catholics supposedly ain’t allowed to divorce in the 1st place, so I’m told 😉
None have any problem with homosexuals, think abortion is a dumb idea but prefers legal doctors VS the coathanger method, and are generally willing to let people live their own lives..however ya wanna live yer lives.
Atheists, like many Christians or any normal person of any religion or non-religion, are only concerned with neurotic people who write things like this article.
Ohh, and I know it’s been mentioned, but I’ll say it again. ‘In God We Trust’ was not originally on our currency, neither was ‘One Nation, Under God’ originally in the Pledge. Read some of the letters and quotes from the Founding Fathers, even beyond that, read some of Lincoln’s quotes and writings.
The US wasn’t founded as a Christian Nation, that’s a fact, get over it. You can independently research it yourself, don’t take my word for it.

You know, I’d say that athiests are really the only group that it’s safe to discriminate against anymore, at least in a social sense. It’s more acceptable to be a scientologist or some other insane cultist, because at least then you’re still following someone, still giving someone the authority. In the end, it doesn’t matter which god is giving the orders, you’re still following. Except for athiests and agnostics, you know?

last i checked, people who commit a crime and get sent to prison become christains. Most get out and repeat the same crimes. How often do you see a convinct go to prison and become an atheist. Then get released and commit the same crime?

If not, someone needs to get some oxygen to that woman’s brain!
Atheists are not any cause of crime. If we’re going to start being stereotypical, what about the Christian cults out there?
Anything for God, murder, rape, other abuse?
There is not one religion-or lack there of-that is responsible for all crime.
Since not one person of religion, EVER, has commit a crime…
Get real. Don’t do drugs ma’am, they’re very bad for you.

I am for freedom of religion, but when you start demanding that some people leave because of your faith…….Christians……. it seems like we are going back into the past with the Spanish Inquisition. Funny how they became one of the largest groups of faith by killing everyone off in the past who did not believe what they believed in.

First let me say I’ve been “a bible thumper” my whole life and I have to agree that a person who would write such an article is, to say the least, ignorant. I would also have to question how much this person really knows about our religion. The Christian bible speaks of compassion and understanding. All I read in this article is anger and aggression. We shouldn’t try to force our religion on anyone.

It really is unbelievable that people think like this. It’s scary that they’re not the only ones, too. It’s interesting that her definition of “freedom of religion” forces people to choose a religion and pray in school. And we atheists are the tyrants in the world, right? Because we enjoy molesting eight year old boys in church, blowing ourselves up in an effort to make more people think the way we do and telling people what to believe in, right?

This lady’s gotta get her act straightened out, fast. Life’s gonna hit her hard, and if she’s already an adult well than my sympathy goes out towards this ignorant, stubborn, simple and close-minded person with absolutely no knoweledge of the crimes that her own religion has committed. (I assume she is christian, she only mentioned christian religions in her “i.e.” which i also found interesting) No offense to southerners either, but I bet she is from a southern state. They tend to have a more nationalist “this is our land get the hell out if your different” attitude towards things and liberal ideas.

It’s because of Athiest that America is great. Hell even Thomas Jefferson said that christianity was a three headed demon! And even said it’s the most perverted system that ever came upon humanity, I couldn’t agree with him more.

Religious people have been taught to care about the world because they have been taught that God will grant you ‘eternal life’ if you do ‘his work’. They made an imaginary ‘pact’ with an imaginary God.
The centerpiece of religious belief is that you will escape death. Athiests do no better by saying ‘we don’t know what happens after death’.
Don’t people see that believing in immortality – even just the possibility of it – distorts your entire view of reality and replaces real value with only value of the self.
Debate with facts if you like, but they will remain smugly confident in the face of everything until scientists can prove that there is no life after death.
